IN THE NEWS:

The newly formed rock n’ roll supergroup, Them Crooked Vultures, consisting of Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, and John Paul Jones will be playing this year’s ACL Festival on October 2nd.

C3 Presents, organizer of the ACL Festival, has released a list of names and venues for ACL Fest aftershows. Artists include Thievery Corporation, Grizzly Bear, Dan Auerbach and more.

LOCAL SHOWS:

Elvis Costello & the Sugarcanes at Bass Concert Hall

Reggae legend Lee “Scratch” Perry at Flamingo Cantina.

THIS WEEK IN MUSIC:

1971 – Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan took the stage with George Harrison at Madison Square Garden for Harrison’s Concert in Bangladesh. The concert raised over 250,000 dollars to help drought stricken Bangladesh.

1960 – Aretha Franklin records her first secular songs for CBS Records. A move that would eventually land her at Atlantic Records and establish her as the Queen of Soul.
