Marshall Ford Swing Band and Milkdrive Double Bill Tonight at Cactus Cafe
The Cactus Café has a double bill this week featuring two Austin bands that blend classic styles with original material: The swing masters of The Marshall Ford Swing Band, and folk/progressive acoustic band Milkdrive.
The Marshall Ford Swing Band has a reputation for playing an awesome swing show, but they also have a great instinct for playing several types of music, putting a different spin on old-time (and newer) favorites, and bringing some of their own works into the set list.
Milkdrive is known for some of the swiftest, eyebrow-raising finger-picking and incredible technical savvy in their gigs, mixing layers of tempos and melodies with uninhibited improvisation that fans go nuts for.
This is one heck of a show, folks. It’s tonight at the Cactus Cafe, 2247 Guadalupe, at 8:30 p.m. You can find the cafe in the Texas Union building on the UT campus. Do check this one out!
