Nashville’s Kings of Leon is comprised of brothers Caleb Followill (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Jared Followill (bass), Nathan Followill (drums), and cousin Matthew Followill (lead guitar). Though the band was formed in 1999, and had achieved massive success on the UK charts since their debut release in 2003, they failed to achieve success on the U.S. charts until 2008′s Only by the Night.

The Followill brothers were surely influenced by their time spent traveling through the south with a father who was a Pentecostal Church preacher. When they moved to Nashville in the late ’90s they developed a love for bands like the Rolling Stones, the Clash, and the Velvet Underground. They have released four albums — Youth and Young Manhood in 2003, Aha Shake Heartbreak in 2004, Because of the Times in 2007, and Only by the Night in 2008.

Kings of Leon will be headlining Friday night on the Livestrong stage from 8:30-10:00pm. -Meg Murphree
