Song of the Day

Fruit Bats: “The Ruminant Band”

September 17, 2009 5:30 am by: Peter Babb

Fruit Bats started out as a lo-fi recording project for songwriter Eric D. Johnson in the mid 1990s. With the help of some like-minded Chicago musicians, Johnson turned Fruit Bats into a full fledged band, culminating in a record deal with Sub Pop in 2002. They just released their fourth full-length album this summer called The Ruminant Band.

Fruit Bats recently took time out of their busy touring schedule to drop by KUT to perform some tunes. Today’s song of the day is from that stripped-down session. It’s called “The Ruminant Band.”
