Frightened Rabbit Performs Tonight at The Mohawk

September 24, 2009 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

Frightened Rabbit, an indie-pop quartet out of Glasgow, Scotland first formed in 2003, when Scott Hutchinson used the moniker for his solo shows. It was Hutchison who played all the instruments, both on the lo-fi recordings and in live shows. Brother Grant Hutchison moved to Glasgow a year later and contributed drumming the project, and helped his brother make some demos. In 2006, the band became a trio and recorded their debut full-length, Sing the Greys.

The band developed a reputation for giving great live performances and were able to tour in 2007 before making their second album, Midnight Organ Fight, released the following year. They produced a well-received live version of the album in the summer of 2008, released in 2009 as Quietly Now! – Midnight Organ Fight Live And Acoustic At The Captain’s Rest.

Their music has gotten the band a dedicated following. All throughout, they’ve cultivated a rich sound that emphasizes Hutchinson’s passionate vocals.

You can see Frightened Rabbit perform tonight at The Mohawk, 912 Red River. It’s a night of great music from Scotland: The Twilight Sad and We Were Promised Jetpacks will open the show. Get there after 9-ish in the p.m. Check it out.
