French Miami Plays Tuesday Night at the Mohawk

A good dose of French Miami will sit well on your eclectic palette – just be prepared to move at any number of speeds, and make room for all sorts of goodies mixed together that will keep you awake nights if you keep the music on. The San Francisco trio will move from point A to point W, then race back to point A but make a pitstop at point G along the way, just for kicks.

The mish-mesh of post-punk, prog jams, rhythms, math rock and crazed irregular patterns would initially seem jarring and intimidating, but it’s quite the opposite. It’s a pairing of technical craft and creative abandon so irregular that it works. Seeing them live is mind-blowing as well, when they throw down while each playing two instruments at a time. Good lord, man, how can anyone think at that speed?!

Check out French Miami when they play this Tuesday at the Mohawk, 912 Red River St. It’s a triple shot of trios, including Austin bands Follow That Bird and Serious Tracers. Get there by 10 p.m. This’ll be a wild night for a Tuesday. Enjoy!
