ACL ’09 Artist – Daniel Johnston: “Freedom”

Austin legend Daniel Johnston is poised to release his first album in six years. Is And Always Was is a collaboration with Jason Falkner and Joey Waronker that shows a new polish on his simple brilliance. Johnston has made the move from lo-fi demos to produced studio tracks, and this new style can be heard on today’s song of the day. Is And Always Was will be released on October 6, but you can catch Johnston perform just before the release at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Johnston’s show is scheduled for to start at 4:45 and end at 5:30 on October 2 at the Austin Ventures stage.
