Earlier this year, former Austinite Nathan Manske started the website I’m From Driftwood , which collects true stories from members of the gay community. The inspiration for the site came from a photo of late gay rights activist Harvey Milk, who, during a rally, held a sign reading “I’m from Woodmere, NY.” Manske, who’s from Driftwood, Texas, identified with Milk’s small town upbringing and thought other gay people would, too. The result was a website featuring hundreds of true stories from the gay/lesbian/trangendered/bisexual community.
This Thursday, Oil Can Harry’s will host a live reading of several of the stories published on the site.

Where: Oil Can Harry’s 211 West 4th Street

When: Thursday, September 24, at 6:30 p.m. (with an afterparty to follow)
