AMM Picks: Pre-ACL Gigs at Emo’s and Beauty Bar on Thursday
The build-up to the Austin City Limits Music Festival is incredible, and this year is no exception. The fest officially begins on Friday, but – as if you weren’t going to have enough to do this weekend – there are bunches of shows beforehand that you’ll want to check out that lead up to the big weekend.
Take, for example, a great gig featuring two bands who are playing the fest on Friday: The Walkmen and Blitzen Trapper have a show this Thursday at Emo’s, 630 Red River, on the outside stage. Wye Oak is also on the bill. A rather superb line-up…
Over on East 7th St. at the Beauty Bar is Art Disaster No. 9, an event presented by Indierect Records that’s basically a showcase of great local talent. The inside stage will feature performances by Bright Light Social Hour, The White White Lights, The Authors, and Whitman, with DJ Orion spinning between sets; outside you can see The Lemurs, The Steps, Speak, and Wallpaper, with DJ Tweedy providing tunes inbetween. Art Disaster begins at 8 p.m. Thursday. Do check this one out.
