Hailing from Montreal, indie rock group Sam Roberts Band is soon to pay festival-goers a visit. Catch their performance at The Wild Flower stage on Saturday, the show starts at 2:30 and ends at 3:30 pm.

The singer/songwriter Sam Roberts strums his guitar in a roots-rocker way, but it should not be forgotten that there was a time one would find the musician with a violin in hand. Roberts’ musical career began in 2002 with his first band, William. After the group’s breakup, Roberts recorded Brother Down, followed by the EP, The Inhuman Condition. His major-label debut, We Were Born in a Flame, was released in 2003, followed by Chemical City in 2006.Today he has six Juno awards to speak of, and his most recent album, Love at the End of the World, has be received with many welcoming ears.

Today’s song of the day, End of the Empire, is a recording taken from the band’s 2009 SXSW performance in the KUT studios.
