Will Sexton Live – August 3, 2009
Will Sexton is an artist developed by the unique diversity of the Austin music scene, which placed him on stage with local legends before he’d lived out his first decade. Many of the sounds of his childhood still resonate in his current work. Will has a diverse range of credits as a musician, producer and songwriter, from collaborations with Waylon Jennings, to psychedelic pioneer Roky Erikson and punk legend Johnny Thunders. He has written for MCA and Almo Irving, and recorded for MCA, A&M, and Zoo Entertainment. Will was in the New Folk Underground with David Baerwald (his most like minded and appreciated collaborator), which resulted in the co-produced (w/ David Kitay) Lost Highway release Here Comes the New Folk Underground.
Will’s first independent release, Scenes From Nowhere, received a four-star review and was honored in the Top 5 Releases of 2001 by the Austin American-Statesman. Will performs regularly around Austin, showcasing his catalog of songs written over the past two decades and he’s got some new tunes to share with us. He stopped by Studio 1A on Music w/ Jay Trachtenberg.
