Spencer Thomas Lays Down the Blues Tonight at Antone’s

August 3, 2009 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

Spencer Thomas started out in the local blues scene in 1986 as the singer for The Solid Senders – a relationship that lasted 10 fruitful and productive years for the blues artist. He moved on to work with The Big Pow Wow and Pat Boyack, performing blues at all the best places like BB King’s in Memphis. After working with Larry Lange (known for playing with his Lonely Knights) in a band called King Soul, and dabbling in gospel with The Rev. Ben T. and The Well Kept Secrets, Thomas eventually put his own group together and released his first solo album, Voodoo Dream, in 2007.

Thomas recently teamed up with V-8 Records to produce a live CD from a performance he and his band did back in April at the Saxon Pub.

You can catch the Spencer Thomas Band at 8 p.m. tonight at Antone’s, 213 W. 5th St. Starting out the evening will be a great performance by Michael Holt and The Trophy 500’s . Both of these bands put on a killer show, so this will be one heavy-duty double-bill. Check it.
