German Masters Hoot Night This Saturday at Club DeVille

August 14, 2009 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

There will be a most special occasion this weekend, one of epic proportions. Epic, I tell you! (shakes fist adamantly)

It takes major cojones to not only perform the much-revered works of beloved composers, but also to perform such works in non-traditional or unexpected ways. That, in itself, is an artform. But fear not, music lovers! Bring open hearts and open minds to the German Masters Hoot Night, presented by the Golden Hornet Project, and you’ll be entertained by spectacular musicians who will not disappoint you!

The Hoot Night will feature local bands performing pieces by classical composers – and a few contemporary artists – in unparalleled presentations that will astound you. You’ll be blown away by the likes of Beethoven and Schubert – then find your jaw on the ground when something by The Scorpions gets tossed in for good measure. Somebody might get saucy and sneak in some Kraftwerk between Strauss and Mozart. Who knows?!

This very special Hoot Night will benefit the Golden Hornet Project’s Symphony VI, a program premiering The Difference Engine by Graham Reynolds and Rough Night with Happy Ending by Peter Stopschinski, along with the Texas premiere of Popcorn Superhet Receiver by Jonny Greenwood, at the Blanton Museum of Art near the end of September.

The Hoot Night is this Saturday night at Club DeVille, 900 Red River. The line-up includes The Invincible Czars, The Golden Arm Trio, Delicious, Run PMS, The Tres Bien Ensemble, and many others. Get there after 9-ish in the p.m. Go!
