Song of the Day

Blitzen Trapper: “Sleepytime in the Western World/Jericho”

Blitzen Trapper is a sextet from Portland, Oregon that has whole-heartedly embraced what some are calling the ‘new folk revival.’ The band’s songs are full of lush harmonies and traditional instruments – along with a woodsy, stripped down production value.

BT is touring over in Europe as we speak, but will be in town as one of the top-tear bookings for this year’s Austin City Limits Festival (which gets under way the first week in October).

Today’s song of the day is a tune the band performed live at KUT. It is a sort of fusion between “Sleepytime in the Western World” (which appears as the first song on the band’s most recent LP, Furr) and “Jericho” (which only appears on a 7″ called Cool Love Vol. 1).
