The Mercers are influenced by cheap beer. And big dreams. And sad, sarcastic pop bursts. Those are just the ones they tell you about. Their sound however, gives you a better idea. There’s some Guided By Voices, The Who, Wilco and many other bands whose names you are familiar with. It is a testament to their ability that they manage to sound like all of these while still bringing a great deal of originality to the table. They’ve got a new EP called Hovercraft and you can listen to their performance live on Music with Jay Trachtenberg!
