Pete Yorn Plays Tonight at La Zona Rosa
Three years had passed before singer-songwriter Pete Yorn released his latest album, Back and Fourth – the title being a play on the fact that it’s his fourth album to date, and perhaps on the inner back-and-forth dialogue within the song lyrics.
It wasn’t so much a hiatus as it was a temporary break, with a single track, “American Blues Vol. 1,” released last year through his website. With his latest work, Yorn strikes a melancholy chord with melodies influenced by 1960s folk rock and what may be his strongest songwriting since musicforthemorningafter (2001).
Yorn just started a summer tour that brings him to Austin for a show tonight at La Zona Rosa, 612 W. 4th St. Opening the show is widely-acclaimed acoustic artist Zee Avi. Doors open at 7 p.m.
