Mike and The Moonpies Play Tonight at Antone’s

July 20, 2009 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

Let’s just be blunt about this: Mike and The Moonpies know how to make real country. Perhaps you wouldn’t guess this if you judge by appearances and are fooled by the youthful faces of this Austin-based quartet, but their music is as authentic as it comes. They keep it classic with pedal steel and fiddle, while frontman Mike Harmeier works the Texas drawl like nobody’s business.

You will not be disappointed when you see them perform tonight at Antone’s, 213 W. 5th St. If you don’t catch them this week, they’ll be back at Antone’s next Monday as well. Singer-songwriter Michael Kingcaid (of What Made Milwaukee Famous) opens the show.

Get yourself a beer, or some of that sweet, sweet honky tonk wine, and enjoy. Highly recommended to get rid of the Monday blahs.
