The empty festival slots created by the Beastie Boys’ canceled tour are quickly being filled. First Lollapalooza announced the Yeah Yeah Yeahs as their replacement, and now All Points West has announced Jay-Z will be replacing them. The big question remains who will be filling their spot at this year’s ACL Festival?

The Texas Radio Hall of Fame announced today that KUT’s Paul Ray will be amongst the 2009 inductees.

LOCAL SHOWS:

The Mother Truckers and Jonathon Tyler and Northern Lights will perform tonight at Antone’s – the show starts at 9 pm.

Ty Stone, Chili Cold Blood, and Black Bone Child are at Stubb’s tonight – the show starts at 9 pm.

ASG, Eagle Claw, and White Rhino play Emo’s tonight – the show starts at 10 pm.

TODAY IN MUSIC HISTORY:

1950 – “The Gene Autry Show” premiered on CBS-TV.

1977 – Judas Priest began its first U.S. tour in Oakland, CA, as the opening act for Led Zeppelin.

1980 – Keith Godchaux (Grateful Dead) died of injuries that he sustained in a car accident in Marin County, CA.
