Frank Smith Plays Tonight at The Mohawk

July 23, 2009 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

For those of you who’ve not had the pleasure of being introduced: In this particular discussion, Frank Smith is not an individual, but a band. And quite a local fave at that.

Frontman Aaron Sinclair and company relocated from Boston to Austin about three years ago, impressing local fans with their album Heavy Handed Peace and Love. They currently make music as a quartet, offering straight-up, bare-basics indie folk/country with sweet, sweet twang. They’ve got another full length, Big Strike in Silver City, on the way.

Frank Smith is part of a great line-up you can see tonight at The Mohawk, 912 Red River St. The show features a special CD release performance by local country rock outfit Crooks, and sets by roots/folk quartet Western Ghost House and West Texas singer-songwriter Caleb Coy. This is great music all around. Get there at 10 p.m.
