Amanda Shires Live – July 11, 2009

July 11, 2009 1:51 pm by: Kevin Connor

Raised in Lubbock and Mineral Wells, Amanda Shires became obsessed with Western Swing and country fiddle at the age of 10 after a chance encounter with a pawn shop fiddle. Over the years she has honed her craft, garnering accolades and at sixteen, she began performing with Tommy Allsup and the legendary Texas Playboys. Since then she has released several albums and her latest, West Cross Timbers combines traditional folk with a more contemporary sound. Listen to Amanda Shires live on Folkways with Kevin Connor!
