Raised in Lubbock and Mineral Wells, Amanda Shires became obsessed with Western Swing and country fiddle at the age of 10 after a chance encounter with a pawn shop fiddle. Over the years she has honed her craft, garnering accolades and at sixteen, she began performing with Tommy Allsup and the legendary Texas Playboys.
