Song of the Day

Sarah Jarosz: “Song Up In Her Head”

June 24, 2009 5:00 am by: Andrew Uhler

Sarah Jarosz grew up just south of Austin’s city limits in Wimberley. And it was the bluegrass community in that small town that gave Jarosz the platform to strut her unusual precocity (she began began singing at two, playing piano at six, and took up the mandolin at ten).

Now eighteen, Jarosz has just released her debut album on bluegrass mainstay, Sugar Hill Records. The album is called Song Up In Her Head.

Jarosz stopped by KUT just before the release and recorded some tunes.

Today’s song of the day is the title track to the new CD. It’s called “Song Up In Her Head.”
