Mobley: “Carry On”

June 4, 2009 5:00 am by: Andrew Uhler

After going through several rounds of reinvention, Mobley, has made their home in Austin, Texas and established a sound made up of many. Originally founded in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, lead singer and songwriter, Anthony Watkins II came together with classically-trained bassist Tim Shelburne, Jr. and drummer Darryl Schomberg II to form the genre-hopping group. From danceable pop” to piano rock beneath bubbling synths, the trio’s most recent EP, Double, surprises with “orchestral epics” to “moody pulses.” Additionally, after spending the first six months in Austin perfecting the art of their stage show, Mobley’s performance has quickly become a set to be seen. The group will be performing at the Beauty Bar on June 8, show starts at 11pm.
