Guitar Shorty Live – June 29, 2009
Willie Dixon, Ray Charles and Sam Cooke. Any one of these names by itself would be impressive, but all three? That’s legendary. One man has played with all of these late greats and his name is Guitar Shorty. Originally from Houston, Shorty now calls LA home. Throughout his career, he has traveled quite extensively, but it was a move to Seattle that changed his family dynamics. In the early 60’s he married Marcia Hendrix and picked up a brother-in-law whose name might ring a bell: Jimi Hendrix. Jimi attended numerous Guitar Shorty shows, and they remained friends until his death in 1971. You can catch Guitar Shorty performing live in Studio 1A on Blue Monday with Larry Monroe!
