Wye Oak Plays Tonight at The Mohawk

Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack were friends who played music in a basement together. It worked so well that the temporary project turned into Wye Oak, and they’ve taken their indie-roots rock on tour throughout America and Europe.

On their second album, The Knot, due for release this summer, the duo opted for less distortion and more of a focused approach, in contrast to their debut If Children. Yet, there are the beautiful complexities and intricate arrangements that are signature to the band’s sound.

Wye Oak is returning for a show in Austin tonight on the Mohawk’s outdoor stage, 912 Red River. They’re currently on tour with Cincinnati, OH art pop band Pomegranates, and starting out the show is Austin indie roots and post-punk outfit Salesman. Things get started around 10 p.m.-ish. Like that. Recommended!
