The Dears Play Tonight at The Parish
The Dears formed in 1995, and released their debut album, End of a Hollywood Bedtime Story, in 2000. This was the beginning of a distinctive Canadian indie movement that embraced the darker pop sounds and sweeping orchestral styles that The Dears became known for. Following the release of their second full length in 2003, No Cities Left, they got their first taste of international success when they played SXSW 2004.
Founder and lead vocalist Murray Lightburn is the core member of the group, the line-up of which is in constant flux and features different members for recording and shows.
The Dears are currently touring in support of their latest, Missiles, and will stop in Austin for a show tonight at The Parish, 214 E. 6th St. Also on the bill are Eulogies and Great Northern. The show starts around 9 p.m.
