Loxsly CD Release Show Friday at The Mohawk

May 14, 2009 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

Loxsly began as a one-man operation, back in 2003 in Waco, TX. Band founder and vocalist Cody Ground was armed with a synthesizer, maybe a saxophone-playing buddy from time to time, and whatever else was on hand that was thrown in and sounded cool.

These days, Loxsly is a five-piece band and poised for the release of their second full-length, Tomorrow’s Fossils, on the Little Mafia label, preceded by their self-released EP, Flashlights (2008), and their first full length, Maps and Organs (2005). The songwriting is as potent as ever, and the band continues to take an alternate approach to indie pop, in a whirling, quirky atomosphere of delicately constructed dark melodies and rhythms.

Loxsly is having a CD release party this Friday night at The Mohawk, 912 Red River. They’ve got a great line-up of local artists for the evening: Oh No Oh My, TV Torso, Corto Maltese, and Booher and The Turkeys. Highly recommended! Things get started after 9 p.m.

By the way…KUT 90.5 featured Loxsly in an episode of Before the Break back in 2006. That was a very fun interview at Spiderhouse, if I do say so myself. Thank you, gents.
