Giant Sand is the foundation for the Tucson, AZ scene that spawned bands like Calexico, Friends of Dean Martinez and OP8. Since 1985, founder Howe Gelb has used his unique songwriting and musical abilities to attract an ever-changing cast of players. Giant Sand’s latest Provisions from 2008 is the group’s first in four years with guests Neko Case, M Ward and Isobell Campbell. Hear Giant Sand’s wealth of southwestern roots and lo-fi sensibility with Howe Gelb live on KUT with Jay Trachtenberg.
