High Speed Internet for Rural Areas

Many of us couldn't imagine life without laptops and smart phones.

On the Best of Public Radio May 10th at 11 a.m., KUT news will air a special report in collaboration with Texas Monthly. The topic: Big ideas for changing Texas.

Below is an excerpt of the program from Former Texas Governor Mark White. When President Barack Obama set aside $7 billion for affordable internet in rural areas, lights went off for Mr. White.

White was the governor of Texas from 1983 to 1987. His commentary was produced by KUT’s Crystal Chavez.
