May 12, 2009 10:21 am by: Jay Trachtenberg

Cyril Neville first came to musical prominence with his brother, Art “Poppa Funk” Neville, as a member of groundbreaking funk band The Meters. Cyril later joined family band The Neville Brothers with Art and brothers Charles and Aaron, garnering Grammy Awards and establishing themselves as the heart and soul of R&B in the Crescent City. Following Hurricane Katrina, Cyril relocated to Austin, TX and remains quite outspoken on never returning to his native town. Listen to Cyril Neville stir up the traditional New Orleans gumbo and perform songs from his latest release Brand New Blues live on Music with Jay Trachtenberg!
