The Mercers Play Tonight at Stubb’s Indoor Venue

April 30, 2009 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

There’s no denying that The Mercers have a distinctive Brit-pop drive in their catchy riffs. But at the root of it all, it’s band that instinctively knows and deeply appreciates the musical history that inspires it, while creating something that’s uniquely Mercers.

In their 2007 debut Pretty Things Walk, they built their tunes upon a pop-rock foundation with infectious melody – epic without losing the ethereal touches or the rawness that makes them stand out. They’ll be releaseing a new EP in the summer.

The Mercers are opening for another great Austin band, The Black and White Years, tonight at Stubb’s indoor venue, 801 Red River. Doors open at 9 p.m., and the show should be starting around 10 p.m. Highly recommended, kids.
