Song of the Day

The Greencards: “Rivertown”

The Greencards are made up of a couple of Australians and an Englishman. Kym Warner, Carol Young and Eamon McLoughlin found each other right here in Austin, Texas, and formed the group in 2003. The contemporary bluegrass trio has since left the friendly confines of Central Texas for Nashville.

In 2007, the band was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Country Instrumental Performance for their song, “Mucky the Duck.” The tune was inspired by one of the band’s favorite musical venues in Texas, The Mucky Duck.

Just last week, the band dropped their fourth LP, Fascination. They also dropped by KUT to record some of the new songs live.

Today’s song of the day is a tune from that session.

It’s called “Rivertown.”

Check out our video of the band performing the song, here.
