The Gaslight Anthem Plays Tonight at Antone’s

April 29, 2009 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

New Jersey quartet The Gaslight Anthem’s second release, The ’59 Sound, has gotten comparisons to Springsteen and Tom Petty. The key ingredient is a punk background, combined with heavy soul and blues influences. The arrangements are simple, leaving the band plenty of room to go completely insane on the performances. Insane and electrifying.

They’re in town for a show tonight at Antone’s, 213 W. 5th St. The bill features opening performances by Melbourne, Australia rockers A Death In the Family, and Austin fave The Heartless Bastards. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the show begins at 9 p.m.
