Robyn Hitchcock and the Venus 3: “Saturday Groovers”
Robyn Hitchcock rose to fame in the late seventies and early eighties with ‘psychedelic punkers’ The Soft Boys. The group was only making music for 5 years but made a big impact on the post-punk/new wave scene.
Hitchcock has since become a prolific solo artist – being dubbed by some as the ‘alternative Bob Dylan.’
Hitchcock and his band The Venus 3 were in town a few weeks ago in support of his latest release, Goodnight Oslo, and they dropped by KUT to record some live tunes.
Today’s song of the day is a tune from that session. It’s called “Saturday Groovers.”
