Priest’s Body Found in Mexico
The pastor of Austin's Cristo Rey Roman Catholic Parish was reported missing last week on a trip to Mexico.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Austin confirmed April 6 that Father Jesse Euresti’s body has been found in northern Mexico.
Austin Bishop Gregory Aymond made the announcement at a news conference at the Diocese’s pastoral center in North Austin. Fr. Euresti’s family identified his body April 5.
Bishop Aymond said that Mexican authorities had a suspect in the case, but that the suspect was not in custody
The 69-year-old priest reportedly left for his retirement home in Nuevo Laredo after a religious service March 30. The priest apparently arrived at the house early the next morning. But shortly thereafter, a visitor found the priest
