Cincinnati, Ohio’s Over the Rhine, led by the songwriting skills and comparable vocals of Karin Bergquist and Linford Detweiler, have built up a loyal following since forming nearly two decades ago. Although their sound is difficult to pin-down, self-dubbed descriptions like “folk-tinged-art-pop” and “pseudo-alternative” begin to scratch the surface. Literary influences like Dylan Thomas and T.S. Eliot seem more apparent than any musical comparison on their latest, lush recording The Trumpet Child.
