April 16, 2009 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

The Old Settler’s Music Festival is famous throughout the nation for gathering some of the finest acts in Americana and roots music. And there are all the cool extras that go along with it: A multitude of arts and crafts, music workshops, activities for the kiddoes, camping for those who stay for the duration of the festival, and yoga in the morning to help you get each day started.

The festival begins today and lasts through Sunday at the Salt Lick Pavilion and Camp Ben McCulloch in Driftwood, just outside of Austin, 11 miles south of Highway 290 West on Farm Road 1826.

The Old Settlers Music Festival website is chock full of ticket information, additional driving directions if you need them, and a list of all the upcoming performances. If you head out today, you can catch The Gourds, Great American Taxi featuring Vince Herman from Leftover Salmon, and The Gibson Brothers.

Headliners throughout the festival include Robert Earl Keen, the BoDeans, BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet, The Lee Boys, and tons more. Tons. Get crackin’. Be sure to double check for any changes in the schedule.
