Informed Consent gets Initial Consent

The Texas Senate has given initial approval to a bill that would have doctors offer ultrasounds to women seeking abortions.

The original bill by Sen. Dan Patrick (R-Houston) would have required the ultrasound.

Negotiations over the House version of the bill have been moving towards similar language to the bill offered Thursday by Sen. Patrick.

The Senate bill still needs one more vote in that chamber before it heads to the House. The House version of the bill is still stuck in the House State Affairs Committee.
