Austin Music Minute

I Love You But I’ve Chosen Darkness at The Mohawk This Thursday

Fans have been asking: Where on earth is I Love You But I’ve Chosen Darkness? It’s safe to say there’s been a general craving for new music from them.

But, true to form, the band has remained a tad tight-lipped and mysterious about it, until recently. All it said on their MySpace profile’s bloggity blog section was that they were scheduled to play their “first Austin show…in ages…You should come.”

That’s it. Nothing more. Pretty straightforward and to the point, with very little nonsense to spare. This was, of course, followed by comments from fans asking -nay, pleading with the band to play in their hometowns, too.

It’s been three years since their first full-length release, Fear Is on Our Side (2006). To be fair, some new stuff is overdue. But there is a chance local audiences will be treated to new songs at their upcoming show this Thursday night at The Mohawk, 912 Red River, on the outside stage. Opening the show are two other rockin’ and floorboard-rattling bands from Austin, Ume, and The Boxing Lesson.

Serious wall-to-wall rockness. Go.
