Fewer Traveling to Austin and Across U.S.
The Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau reports that hotel occupancy in Austin is down nine percent from this time last year. Revenue per room is down 10 percent.
The U.S. Travel Association is blaming the drop in part on negative press against business spending in the wake of the controversial financial bailouts. As KUT’s Mose Buchele reports, the economic downturn is also playing its part.
