Dr. Dog Plays Tonight at The Parish

April 21, 2009 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

If you listen to Dr. Dog’s 2008 release, Fate, you really get a feel of the 1960s pop and rock influences that give it such a distinctive color, vocal harmonies and multi-faceted melodies that could’ve easily come from a Beatles album but are shaped by a more contemporary palette.

Things were relatively quiet for the Philadelphia-based band in the beginning, as they slowly built a core fanbase that began to draw attention to their style. Then, in 2004, My Morning Jacket invited them onto their tour.

Dr. Dog is town tonight for a show at The Parish, 214 E. 6th St. Opening the show are Golden Boots and Cave Singers. Doors open at 8 p.m. Great stuff. This is highly recommended.
