Blind Boys of Alabama: “Free at Last”

April 24, 2009 5:00 am by: Andrew Uhler

The Blind Boys of Alabama first took shape at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind in 1939. Since then, the gospel group has gone on to win five Grammy Awards in the Traditional Soul/Gospel Album category (including a streak of four in a row from 2002-2005)

The founding members are getting older and have slowed down their touring a bit, but KUT was lucky enough to have hosted the Blind Boys in our historic Studio 1A.

Today’s song of the day is a tune from that session.

It’s called “Free at Last.”
