Austin Not Profiting From Recycling Contract

Austin does not currently have the kind of facility that can handle sorting through single stream recycling. So the city is paying to transport materials to San Antonio.

The city is researching how the private sector could help build a single stream facility in Austin.

The Solid Waste Services Department blames its debt with recycling company Greenstar in part on a poor recyclables market.
