In 2007, the Texas Legislature created a disaster contingency fund to help municipalities finance recovery efforts. But there wasn't much money put into the fund in the first place.
Like a really bad houseguest, Hurricane Ike arrived on the Texas coast – with effects that have stuck around – for a long, long time. Many gulf coast communities are still reeling from the impact. Bridge City is no exception.
