Top 10% Debate in the Senate

The Texas Senate has given initial approval of the state's Top 10-percent admittance rule.

Under current law, Texas High School students that graduate in the top ten percent of their class receive automatic admission to Texas public universities. The Senate changes would cap how many top ten percent students can go to UT-Austin each year.
