Pre-SXSW Performances Kick Off the Week

Art Disaster My favorite thing about SXSW is the collection of shows scattered all over the place happening before the music portion of the festival kicks off. Yay for previews!

My adventure began yesterday when I hit the Beauty Bar on East 7th St. very early for Art Disaster No. 8, organized by my friend and colleague Daniel Laszlo Perlaky (City on Fire, Indierect Records). It was a good thing I got to the event as early as I did, around 6 p.m. You can laugh at me if you want, but in less than a couple of hours, a huge line was already snaking outside the venue. Fortunately, I did get a nice interview with Daniel, who is always a most gracious host.

I also caught some fantastic performances by The Always Already, The Pity Party, and The Laughing. Again, my thanks to Daniel, and to the bands for being so accommodating and helpful.
