Playing for Change: “Change is Gonna Come”
About 10 years ago, music and film producer Mark Johnson had an idea after seeing some street musicians perform before he boarded the subway in New York City. He built a mobile recording studio, gathered a production team and traveled around the world recording songs known around the world, hoping to connect humans through the power of music. He called the project, Playing for Change.
About 10 years ago, music and film producer Mark Johnson had an idea after seeing some street musicians perform before he boarded the subway in New York City. He built a mobile recording studio, gathered a production team and traveled around the world recording songs known around the world, hoping to connect humans through the power of music. He called the project, Playing for Change.
The Playing for Change band was brought together just days before their performance at KUT’s studios. The band’s members span the globe, from Zimbabwe, Holland, Israel, to right here in the USA.
Today’s song of the day is a classic Civil Rights standard composed by Sam Cooke. It’s called “Change is Gonna Come.”
