More Red Light Cameras Coming to Austin
The City of Austin will activate cameras at four new spots in the city.
This completes the Keep Austin Safe initiative, which aims to cut down on the number of drivers who run red lights.
The cameras will be installed at:
- Wells Branch Parkway and Loop 1 (MoPac) eastbound on the northbound frontage road.
- IH 35 and 11th Street eastbound on the northbound frontage road.
- Ben White and Lamar eastbound at the southeast intersection.
- Ben White and Lamar westbound at the northwest intersection.
There are currently five locations watched by red light cameras. Police and traffic engineers chose the sites based on their history of collisions.
The lights will be activated March 30.
