Dried Out Farmers and Ranchers

Nearly all of Texas is dealing with some sort of drought, but farmers and ranchers in Central Texas are coping with the worst of it.

Central Texas is in exceptional drought status. Exceptional drought is considered rare, typically occurring about once in 20 years. For the central part of the state, 2008 turned out to be one of the driest years on record and the driest year experienced since the mid-1950s.
