Double Stereo Showcase Rocks The Tiniest Bar In Texas

Double Stereo
My SXSW adventures on Thursday included a stop at a remarkable showcase presented by Double Stereo at The Tiniest Bar In Texas on West 5th St. You know, for purportedly being the tiniest bar in Texas, seeing live performances there is a BIG experience. There’s also plenty of room to dance around, so no worries, folks.
I arrived just in time to catch the tail end of Shotgun Party’s set – can’t resist that fiddle! They were followed by an incredible set by The Georgian Company, and before I had to gallop off into the sunset, I managed to catch a couple of numbers by The Mother Truckers. Teal Collins, you are my hero.

I wish I could’ve stayed for the two bands after that: Kamikaze Queens, bringing show-tuney garage punk madness all the way from Berlin, and the band nearest and dearest to my heart, the White Ghost Shivers. Hot jazz made even hotter.
I’d also like to thank Kevin Brinkkoeter of Double Stereo for the lovely interview between sets.
