Train Horns May Not Quiet for Weeks

February 10, 2009 7:13 am by: Crystal Chavez

The trains will run between Leander and Downtown Austin. Capital Metro hasn’t finished installing equipment at some crossings that will allow for quiet zones, where the use of train horns is reduced. Some Austinites who live along Cap Metro’s rail line could hear train horns blast at night through March. The agency says for now freight trains will stop running by 11 p.m. or midnight when possible. The new commuter rail is scheduled to begin service March 30th. Click here for more information.
